Often considered to be one of the toughest and most prestigious show jumping competitions in the world, the CPKC ‘International’ Grand Prix, presented by Rolex was once again a true spectacle of the world’s best equestrian talent.
In total, 34 combinations from 12 nations, including five of the World’s top 10, took on the typically massive course designed by Leopoldo Palacios.
The competition, which boasts just over $3 Millions in prize money, is part of the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping that features the four ‘Majors’ of Spruce Meadows (CAN), Aachen (GER), Geneva (SUI) and The Dutch Masters (NED).
The top 12 combinations went forward to the second round, with Allen one of just five riders who were on a zero score from round one. Unfortunately, Bertram and Pacino Amiro lowered a single rail when last to go in the second round to deny them a place in the third round jump-off. Still, they secured a superb 3rd-place finish in one of the most prestigious Grand Prix events on the global stage!
Victory went to Switzerland’s Martin Fuchs and Leone Jei after a jump-off against Canada’s Tiffany Foster and Figor, who finished as runners-up.
On Saturday in Spruce Meadows, Bertram Pacino Amiro were part of the Irish team that took victory in the BMO Nations Cup along with Conor Swail, Denis Lynch and Daniel Coyle.
